Welcome to my Bookbinding Blog

The making of books, the teaching of bookbinding and the association with other bookbinders and book artists has become the focus and passion of my life. Bookbinding has many aspects and we debate a lot about the precise definitions of various aspects but, working with our hands within this discipline, challenging our skills and creativity is intriguing, frustrating and exciting.

Concertina forms are sculptural and generally need to be seen from both sides. It is capable of a range of different shapes and we will make some samples to explore these.

I will have the card and papers to use for these samples but please have your cutting mat,  knives, ruler, needle, awl, bonefolder etc as we will be cutting and forming. We should not require glue but will need it to make sample covers on Friday.

See you tomorrow and hope the Oriental stitched book is coming along. No need to think of Concertinas until we meet tomorrow.
