Repair and restoration is an important part of the work done here at Sydney Bookbinding. It gives me pleasure to test my skills and bring broken books back to serviceable life again.
Here is a Beethoven music book that was completely broken apart. On inspection the sections had been secured with staples that had gone rusty. All of these had to be removed, the spine cleaned of old glue and securely sewn on strong bookbinders tape.
The old covers and spine title area plus the original endpapers were reused so that the repair work was sympathetic to the original look.
It all went well and my patient clients were pleased with the result. This book had important sentimental value to them and the wife does play the piano. I hope she had a lot of joy with this book.
